A ruffled crib rail cover does two jobs at once: it protects your crib's top rail from teething marks, and it softens the whole frame with a gathered edge. Ours are cut and sewn one at a time in our Alabama studio from 100% washed cotton, softly filled with quilt batting for fullness and structure, and finished with fabric ties. What's on this page: both the ruffled rail cover on its own and the sets built around it — cover plus a matching crib skirt, and in many cases matching bows, all cut from the same bolt. Buying as a set matters for one practical reason: ordered separately, dye lots can differ slightly — rarely enough to notice on their own, but enough to see where a skirt meets a rail.

Rail covers vs. crib bumpers: they are not the same thing. Padded bumpers lined the inside of the crib and are no longer recommended. A rail cover rests on the outside, over the top rail, where your baby chews — it does not go inside the crib, and does not cover the sides, slats or ends.
