Ruffled Crib Rail Covers — Hand-Gathered, Made in Alabama

A ruffled crib rail cover does two jobs at once: it protects your crib's top rail from teething marks, and it softens the whole frame with a gathered edge. Ours are cut and sewn one at a time in our Alabama studio from 100% washed cotton, softly filled with quilt batting for fullness and structure, and finished with fabric ties. Available in every color we carry, with optional monogram embroidery. Free shipping on every order.

      Why families choose ruffled:

      • A full hand-gathered ruffle — the softest of our three silhouettes
      • 100% washed cotton over quilt batting, so it holds its shape instead of sagging
      • Fabric ties rather than elastic — they stay put through a year of chewing
      • Cut from the same bolt as our ruffled crib skirts and bows in the same colorway
      • Optional monogram embroidery turns it into a true keepsake
      • Machine wash cold, tumble dry low — it will be washed often, and it holds up

Rail covers vs. crib bumpers: they are not the same thing. Padded bumpers lined the inside of the crib and are no longer recommended. A rail cover rests on the outside, over the top rail, where your baby chews — it does not go inside the crib, and does not cover the sides, slats or ends. Read the Safe Sleep Guide for the full story on what changed and what we make now.

Buying more than one piece? Our Crib Rail Cover & Skirt Sets pair the cover with a matching skirt cut from the same bolt. Ordered separately, dye lots can differ slightly — rarely enough to notice on their own, but enough to see where a skirt meets a rail.

Sizing: long rail covers are 52" and short rail covers are 28", drape about 20" down each side, and fit spindle, slatted, iron and upholstered cribs. See the Crib Fit Guide for full measurements.
