One flat panel of green ticking folded over the top rail, held by narrow natural ties — no cording, no ruffle, nothing competing with the stripe itself.

Fine pine green stripes run closely down a natural cotton ground, with a narrower stripe in the natural color set between them. The cover folds over the rail and ties underneath with slim natural osnaburg tapes that knot between the spindles and hang loose. This is the plainest rail cover we make, and on a turned-spindle crib it is usually the right one — the wood already has all the shape the eye needs, so the fabric does better staying quiet. It is also the piece that takes the wear once a baby pulls up and starts working on the rail: it comes off, washes, and goes back on.

Details:

  • 100% washed cotton in pine green ticking, with narrow natural osnaburg ties
  • Simple construction — a flat panel with no cording, ruffle or trim of any kind
  • Covers one long crib rail; a second cover can be added — leave a note at checkout
  • Rests over the top rail and ties beneath; no tools and no hardware
  • Optional custom monogram, stitched on the rail cover itself
  • Any color can be changed; mini crib sizing and short-rail covers available — leave a note at checkout
  • Handmade to order in our Alabama studio

Good to Know:

  • Ticking goes by several names — ticking stripe, mattress stripe, French ticking, grain sack stripe — all describing this pattern
  • Simple is one of our edge treatments, not a different fit. Our Ruffled, Tailored, Scalloped and Farmhouse rail covers cover the same rail; they just finish the bottom edge differently
  • Buying the rail cover on its own makes sense if you already have a crib skirt you like, or if you want the nursery to change for one season without replacing everything
  • The matching tailored ticking crib skirt is sold on its own, together with this cover as a two-piece set, and also with two cypress green bows
  • Deep green and natural is genuinely gender neutral — at home in a woodland or botanical nursery, a hunting or fishing room, a midcentury modern one, and right for a boy, a girl, or a surprise
  • It reads Christmas in December without a holly leaf or a snowflake on it, so nothing has to come off the crib in January
  • Monogramming goes on the rail cover, stitched into the natural stripe between the green so the letters stay legible

Fits: The crib rail cover rests over the top rail of the crib only. It does not go inside the crib and does not cover the crib sides, slats, or interior openings. Made for a standard crib's long rail; leave a note at checkout for a mini crib or a short-side cover.

Made to Order: Sewn when you order, in our Alabama studio.

A standard crib mattress is 28" × 52", and our pieces are cut to match it — 52" long rail covers, 28" short rail covers, and fitted sheets sized to that mattress. If your crib takes a standard mattress, no measuring is needed.

Crib skirt drops — farmhouse skirts are 20", ruffled skirts are 22". To find your drop, measure from just under the mattress support straight down toward the floor. Want a different length? Tell us your measurement at checkout and we'll make it to that, at no extra charge.

Rail cover drape — approximately 20" down each side of the rail, inside and out.

Mini cribs — sheets fit a 24" × 38" mattress, and most pieces can be made in mini sizing on request.

Antique, imported, or non-standard crib? Send us your measurements — everything is cut to order.

Every piece is made from 100% cotton sourced from American mills — no synthetic blends, no flame-retardant treatments, no chemical finishes.

Pre-washed before we cut. Every yard is washed and dried in our studio before a single piece is cut, so your bedding arrives already soft and won't shrink on you at home. That relaxed, lived-in texture is the washed cotton at work — and it irons or steams to a crisp finish if you prefer that look.

Washing — machine wash cold on gentle, separately. Skip bleach and fabric softener; both break down natural cotton over time.

Drying — tumble dry on medium, separately. A quick toss in the dryer is the easiest way to release wrinkles between uses.

Ironing — optional, on medium heat. Avoid starch sprays. A handheld steamer works well too.

Every piece is sewn to order in our Alabama studio, so nearly every detail can be changed.

Color changes — swap any color on any product: ruffles, cording, accents, bows, ties, or the body of the piece itself. Mix and match across a set however you like. Most color changes are free of charge.

Monograms and personalization — add initials, a name, or a meaningful date, with your choice of font and thread color. $30 per piece.

Style and sizing — prefer a tailored look without ruffles? Need mini crib sizing? Both are available on request.

How to order: add your pieces to the cart, then leave your requests in the notes field at checkout. Forgot? Email customercare@highcottontextile.com with your order number before we begin sewing.

Not sure about a color? We always recommend ordering swatches first.
