Pine Green Ticking Simple Crib Rail Cover & Tailored Skirt Set
Sewn to order in our Alabama studio — nearly any color, size, or detail can be changed, most at no extra charge. Don't see what you need as an option? Leave a note at checkout: a different color, a different skirt drop, or mini crib sizing.
Pairs Well With
Ticking is the oldest stripe in an American bedroom — it covered mattresses and grain sacks long before it went near a nursery, and that plainness is exactly why it works on a crib.
Fine pine green stripes run closely set down a natural cotton ground, and between them sits a narrower stripe in the natural color itself, which keeps the pattern from hardening into a two-tone. The rail cover is our Simple style: no cording, no ruffle, no trim anywhere — a clean flat panel folded over the top rail and held by tiny natural osnaburg ties that knot between the spindles and disappear. The skirt carries the same stripe below the mattress, cut flat with pleated centers on all four sides and a 20-inch drop. Neither piece is decorated, and that is the point: a stripe this quiet lets the crib itself be the pretty thing.

- (1) four-sided tailored crib skirt in the matching pine green ticking — pleated center panels, 20-inch finished drop, fits a standard crib mattress
Details:
- 100% washed cotton — soft, breathable, machine washable
- Simple rail cover construction — a flat panel with no cording, ruffle or trim, tied with narrow natural osnaburg ties
- Tailored skirt construction — pleated center panels on all four sides, split corners, not gathered
- Covers one long crib rail; a second rail cover can be added — leave a note at checkout

Good to Know:
- Ticking goes by several names — ticking stripe, mattress stripe, French ticking, grain sack stripe — all describing this pattern
- The Simple style is our plainest rail cover. Choose it when you want the fabric doing the work, or when the nursery already has pattern somewhere else
- Because ticking came off old mattress covers and feed sacks, it reads antique even brand new, which is why it sits easily in a room full of inherited furniture
- Deep green and natural is genuinely gender neutral. It suits a woodland or botanical nursery, a hunting or fishing room, a midcentury modern one, and it works for a boy, a girl, or a surprise
- It reads Christmas in December without a holly leaf or a snowflake anywhere on it, so nothing has to come off the crib in January
- Monogramming is done on the crib rail cover. The stitching shows cleanly in the natural stripe between the green
Coordinates With:
- The same ticking skirt with two cypress green bows — sashes tied to the front posts
- The ticking rail cover on its own
- The ticking crib skirt on its own
- Natural osnaburg large crib bow — the same natural as the ties, tied onto the front posts
- White farmhouse nursery curtains — plain white at the windows keeps the stripe the only pattern in the room
- White blackout nursery curtains — the same white with the blackout sewn inside, for naps
- Natural osnaburg fitted crib sheet — a warmer base than white, matched to the ground of the ticking
- Natural osnaburg farmhouse crib skirt — the plain gathered version, if you'd rather the stripe stop at the rail
- Pine green gingham set — the same deep green as a small check
- Green Crib Bedding — everything in the green family
- Christmas Crib Bedding — the rest of the holiday nursery
Fits: The crib rail cover rests over the top rail of the crib only. It does not go inside the crib and does not cover the crib sides, slats, or interior openings. Made for a standard crib; leave a note at checkout for a mini crib or a different drop length.
Made to Order: Sewn when you order, in our Alabama studio.
A standard crib mattress is 28" × 52", and our pieces are cut to match it — 52" long rail covers, 28" short rail covers, and fitted sheets sized to that mattress. If your crib takes a standard mattress, no measuring is needed.
Crib skirt drops — farmhouse skirts are 20", ruffled skirts are 22". To find your drop, measure from just under the mattress support straight down toward the floor. Want a different length? Tell us your measurement at checkout and we'll make it to that, at no extra charge.
Rail cover drape — approximately 20" down each side of the rail, inside and out.
Mini cribs — sheets fit a 24" × 38" mattress, and most pieces can be made in mini sizing on request.
Antique, imported, or non-standard crib? Send us your measurements — everything is cut to order.
Every piece is made from 100% cotton sourced from American mills — no synthetic blends, no flame-retardant treatments, no chemical finishes.
Pre-washed before we cut. Every yard is washed and dried in our studio before a single piece is cut, so your bedding arrives already soft and won't shrink on you at home. That relaxed, lived-in texture is the washed cotton at work — and it irons or steams to a crisp finish if you prefer that look.
Washing — machine wash cold on gentle, separately. Skip bleach and fabric softener; both break down natural cotton over time.
Drying — tumble dry on medium, separately. A quick toss in the dryer is the easiest way to release wrinkles between uses.
Ironing — optional, on medium heat. Avoid starch sprays. A handheld steamer works well too.
Every piece is sewn to order in our Alabama studio, so nearly every detail can be changed.
Color changes — swap any color on any product: ruffles, cording, accents, bows, ties, or the body of the piece itself. Mix and match across a set however you like. Most color changes are free of charge.
Monograms and personalization — add initials, a name, or a meaningful date, with your choice of font and thread color. $30 per piece.
Style and sizing — prefer a tailored look without ruffles? Need mini crib sizing? Both are available on request.
